Really cool canal with houses built right on top of it. Canals like this run through - and underneath - the whole city.

This is the oldest brick house in Holland, dating back from the 13th century. The materials it was built with from medieval times still stand today. It is called De Moriaan and it is speculated that it used to be a city castle back in the day.

Reminds me a bit of Bruges especially the canals – very quaint but I think the homes might suffer from rising damp!
Yes I think that’s the case with some of the houses in Den Bosch. When we were there, they were dredging up some of the canals and re-bricking and cementing the foundations. Clearly there had been some leakages!
Love the place with the red and navy trim and also the flower pots perched on the window sills. Very quaint!

I am going to be visiting Tilburg University this spring. It’s not a particularly pretty town so I have been thinking of staying in Den Bosch (which I have visited on day trips a few times). Do you have any suggestions of places to stay there? (I am an older woman, traveling on my own.)
