Adventures In London – Part 1

Well geeze louise. I haven’t posted in a while, have I? Things have been busy over here. After HRH Queen Jessica of Canada visited me at the end of May, Michiel and I went on a trip to London. And then my parents came, and we went to Bruges! So I have lots of pictures to post!

…Starting here, with our trip to London. We went for 4 days and saw a whole bunch of stuff: Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben & Parliament, Tower Bridge, National Portrait Gallery, British Museum, Trafalgar Square, and lots more. We walked all over the place and I don’t think my feet have ever hurt so bad. But it was all worth it!

We did one of those free walking tours (link is here) that are available in a lot of cities around Europe. I had already done the one in Edinburgh and in Amsterdam and thought they were great. The one in London was also awesome – it’s a great activity to do on your first day in a new city to get your bearings straight, make note of what you’d like to see later, and learn about some of the history.

Thankfully we had excellent weather in London. It was a little on the chilly side, but the sun was out in full force, which is not a typical scenario in England :P

Anyway, here are some pictures from our trip, with a few more to come later!

Flying over Dutch skies...

...and into London! Hello, England.

Very exciting!!!

Had to get a photo in my new red dress with the double-decker bus :D

This is the Wellington Arch

Here we are!

We had to check out Buckingham Palace, of course.

And see the famous "Changing of the Guards" ceremony

The queen wasn't there though, she was on a trip to Ireland at the time.

But the crowds of people were still unbelievable!

Thankfully we arrived there the day before Obama visited, otherwise it would have been sheer pandemonium, I'm sure.

Very fancy! (Okay, that's enough with the Changing of the Guards).

You can see the "London Eye" in the background.

Here's me, representing my homeland :)

More London pics coming soon!

One Response to Adventures In London – Part 1

  1. Jess says:

HRH demands a picture cut out of HRH to be held up in each picture to make HRH feel like she was there (for the next excursion, she won’t make you go back to London to retake those).
    (Nice photos! ps)
